    What is a SNAC adapter?

    MiSTer setup

If you want the closest thing possible to the original experience the SNAC adapter is the way to go.

SNAC (Serial Native Accessory Converter) gives you a way to communicate faster with the MiSTer compared to using a USB controller for example, this means that original controllers and peripherals work like it would on the original system like a Nintendo Entertainment System or a Sega Genesis / Mega Drive, even light guns which does not work on USB at all.

While using SNAC adapters on MiSTer gets you the most authentic experience it comes at a cost. The OSD menu for example can not be controlled with a controller using SNAC, you have to use either a USB controller or keyboard for this. Another problem is that it almost always only supports one player with NES, SNES and Playstation being the exception.

Our SNAC adapters are made for Playstation, Turbografx-16 / Turbografx CD, PC-Engine, NES, SNES, Sega Master System and Mega Drive / Genesis.

    MiSTer NES SNAC

So that’s it, SNAC offers you a zero lag experience with support for original controllers, incl. light guns, on many retro systems. If you want the ultimate way to play your games on the MiSTer then this is it.
